News and Notes: April

The month of April saw the weather turn from winter to spring seemingly overnight. The children thought about spring and on nature walks, searched for signs of it. As a part of spring, the children planted bean seeds in take home cups. Also, we will begin watching some caterpillars’ metamorphosis into butterflies.

Erin Campbell and two alums spent a morning with us showing the children chicks who had hatched at their house. It was so nice to have them back, and we were grateful that they continue to share this experience with us. Another two visitors, Andrea Barney and Sue Swanson from the church’s Green Team spoke to the children about composting, which we will begin doing soon as a part of snack clean up!

In May, we will round out the year with themes of Mother’s Day and the Ocean. The Mother’s Day theme will also include animal mothers and their babies. Some groups will visit Chip In Farm in May, and the entire school is welcome to the annual trip at Emerson Playground in Concord for the final field trip of this school year, some traveling by bus; others can join us there. Please see your email for more details about the Emerson Playground field trip. There are also permission slips and chaperone volunteer forms for both trips going home soon in yellow bags.

The end of the year celebration is Wednesday June 5 for all the children.
